Business Development Manager

Support to Life: We are an internationally recognized humanitarian organization that aims to ensure disaster-affected communities have access to their basic rights and needs. Founded in 2005 by humanitarian professionals, our association works under the programs of Emergency Response, Refugee Support, Child Protection, and Localization & Capacity Building. We focus on improving the lives of people affected by natural or human-made disasters in Türkiye and the surrounding regions.
We support those in need to access their basic rights and necessities and to achieve self-reliance. We aim to eliminate the risks faced by children living in challenging conditions, particularly in seasonal agricultural areas. In times of disaster, we conduct emergency relief operations and implement recovery efforts in their aftermath. Additionally, we work to strengthen disaster preparedness in civil society and support the empowerment of localization. Through our brand 'destekar', which we define as a social design market, we transform everyday shopping for daily needs into an opportunity to contribute to a fairer and more equal world.
We carry out our activities in coordination with our headquarters in Kadıköy, Istanbul, and through field offices and mobile teams operating in various provinces. While primarily active in Türkiye, we also provide consultancy to local initiatives in other regions.
Approximately 150 humanitarian aid professionals are involved in our projects, which are supported by international funds and local contributors. We design and implement our work in accordance with the global principles of humanitarian assistance, including neutrality, independence, humanity, impartiality, and accountability.
We are seeking an experienced Business Development Manager to join our team.
| Main Duties and Responsibilities: |
- Based on local, national, regional and global needs and developments, preparing, implementing and monitoring the business development strategy of Support to Life in coordination with relevant units,
- Contacting and developing relationships with new funding institutions, contributing to collaborations and developing projects with the private sector and private sector foundations,
- Researching grants in line with the STL's strategy, actively following the grant calls and sharing the relevant grants with the relevant people within the organisation
- Exploring new funding opportunities for STL’s new areas of expansion (climate change, sustainable development, localisation advocacy, etc.)
- Regularly following the strategic priorities of the institutions that provide funding in the areas where the association works or plans to work and taking proactive steps at points that overlap with STL’s strategy
- Ensure new assessments and research in strategic areas for STL, develop policies and positions, supervise the Research and Policy Expert
- Monitor and raise awareness of the humanitarian and development context through research and reporting
- Develop and update project development and fundraising processes and tools
- Ensure communication and coordination both within STL and with other partners and donors during the project development process
- Design the project with the relevant parties, write project proposals, prepare the budget with the support of the relevant units, make project applications, following up and bringing them to the contract stage
- Provide project development support to the relevant field teams, organize relevant trainings and workshops
- Regularly collect the project ideas developed by the field teams and make matching and planning studies with the relevant funding sources
- Clarify the project and business development processes within the association and provide trainings
- Participate in promotion and coordination meetings on grants on behalf of Support to Life
- Graduated from relevant departments of universities,
- At least 6 years of experience in project development, project proposal writing, project management cycle and grant management,
- Experience or knowledge in humanitarian and development fields (protection and livelihoods, basic needs, disaster preparedness and disaster risk reduction, coordination, localisation, capacity building, preferably in refugee support),
- Experience working with UN agencies, International NGOs and other organizations, private sector actors active in the humanitarian, development and climate fields
- Professional command of written and spoken English and Turkish
- Preferably with high budget project writing and contract management experience,
- Very good communication and representation skills,
- Ability to think and plan strategically, teamwork oriented
- Experience and ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and in multicultural environments
