Support to Life: Internationally renowned humanitarian aid organization founded to ensure access to basic rights and needs for individuals and communities affected by natural or human-made disasters. Support to Life is seeking a Humanitarian Logistics and Security Manager. (remote working)
Main Duties and Responsibilities: |
Humanitarian Logistics and Security Manager will be leading STL’s emergency preparedness and business continuity, humanitarian logistics, safety, and security management functions, as well as coordinating all operational processes across STL’s expertise in CHS, SPHERE, and emergency sectors including WASH, Shelter & NFI and TSS/CCCM.
Humanitarian Logistics Manager will also lead the organization’s emergency preparedness and response planning including all processes linked to business continuity.
Business Continuity, Emergency Preparedness and Response Planning
- Leading the development and implementation of STL’s emergency preparedness and emergency response plans to ensure a sound first-phase response during sudden-onset humanitarian emergencies in the country or overseas,
- Development of a business continuity plan for the organization with the involvement of all other departments and systematically monitoring the process to ensure that all the departments and key functions of the organization are prepared for emergencies,
- Carrying out all business continuity actions related to buildings, inventories, operational centers and other STL assets,
- Establishing an emergency surge capacity pool with internal and external members to facilitate rapid deployment during a sudden-onset emergency in the country or overseas
- Ensuring that STL staff, volunteers, partners, and other relevant stakeholders are equipped with solid knowledge and skills in emergency preparedness and response.
Security Management
- As the focal person for safety and security in the organization, ensuring effective health, safety, and security (HSS) management with the implementation of sound HSS plans and providing support to field operations,
- Conducting periodic risk analysis and ensuring the implementation of necessary health, safety and security measures,
- Ensuring all employees receive Health, Safety, and Security training,
- Keeping up with current developments in security, assessing them strategically, and sharing these evaluations with relevant stakeholders, primarily the management,t
- Establishing and developing collaborations and information exchanges with the security units of other local and international NGOs.
- Keeping field-based security context analyses up-to-date.
- Maintaining security plans for offices, community centers, and the headquarters, as well as developing emergency action plans for different scenarios,
- Organizing training to ensure a high level of awareness of security issues and HSS plans, policies, and standards.
- Representing the association in meetings on security-related matters.
Operational Quality Standards
- Setting all the operational standards (humanitarian principles, do no harm principle, Code of Conduct, Sphere minimum standards, Core Humanitarian Standard, emergency sector standards), disseminating them across the organization, and ensuring that all STL interventions are implemented in line with these standards in coordination with Operation Manager,
- Developing relevant operational guidelines, SOPs and tools,
- Closely following humanitarian innovation trends and good practices that could be adopted and/or contextualized.
Humanitarian Technical Management and Quality Supervision
- Providing technical support to the logistics teams in the field,
- Monitoring the use of logistics tools developed in fieldwork,
- When needed, supervising the Emergency Sector Managers/Experts to ensure that they are closely following the technical quality of project work and providing the needed support to the field teams involved in project implementation,
- Ensuring humanitarian and technical know-how produced is transferred to all STL fields, teams, partners and all other relevant stakeholders through quality supervision and technical support.
Coordination and Representation
- Maintaining close relations with all relevant internal and external stakeholders including government and civil society networks for risk reduction, preparedness, and response,
- Participating in coordination and networking events as appropriate.
Required Experience & Qualifications |
- University degree in a field that is relevant to the humanitarian/development field,
- At least 5 years of professional experience in the humanitarian/development field,
- Demonstrated experience in Business Continuity, Emergency Preparedness, Response Planning, humanitarian logistics and security management
- Excellent writing and speaking skills in English and Turkish,
- Ability to manage self under stress, while maintaining ethical and professional conduct,
- Ability to provide visionary and motivational leadership to the team and the rest of the organization,
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational, and representation skills,
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills,
- Ability to manage work effectively, systematically, and strategically, in the face of competing demands and priorities,
